Abdominal Aorta Duplex

An abdominal aorta duplex is an ultrasound of the major artery in your tummy called the Aorta. The procedure helps identify the presence of an aneurysm or any enlargement of the aorta, cholesterol build up and blood supply to your legs.

How do I prepare for it?

There is no real preparation for this test except to show up for it. It takes 30 minutes to perform the test. The technologist applies a gel on your lower abdomen and then obtains pictures and the blood flow through the aorta.

When do I obtain my results?

All patients are expected to return to follow-up on test results. Dr. Ahmad will discuss results with you in great detail with the aid of diagrams and images. Your questions and concerns will be answered as well. For your safety and privacy results are given in person and not over the phone.
