A carotid duplex is an ultrasound of your neck arteries which provide blood supply to the brain. It evaluates the blood flow in your brain and assesses your risk for stroke.
There is no preparation for it. It takes 30 minutes to perform the test. The technologist applies a gel on the transducer and probes along the sides of you neck to obtain images of the arteries.
All patients are expected to return to follow-up on test results. Dr. Ahmad will discuss results with you in great detail with the aid of diagrams and images. Your questions and concerns will be answered as well. For your safety and privacy results are given in person and not over the phone.
