A lower extremity arterial duplex is an ultrasound image of the arteries in the legs. It is generally done to evaluate swelling, numbness, pain, discoloration or blood clots in the legs.
There is no preparation for it. It takes 30 minutes to perform the test. The technologist applies a gel on your legs and then obtains pictures of the leg veins and the blood flow through these veins.
All patients are expected to return to follow-up on test results. Dr. Ahmad will discuss results with you in great detail with the aid of diagrams and images. Your questions and concerns will be answered as well. For your safety and privacy results are given in person and not over the phone.
